Body

I love reading about stuff online, especially on Reddit. But more and more, i feel like everyone is trying to sell, or just giving random uninitated AI responses, or basically trying to sell you something without you checking it out. I feel most answers are just bots at this point. What do you think? I'm trying to find an alternative to Reddit where i can make sure that it's a human that responds to me, and that we actually have a talk on an OP's thought or question. If not, maybe i could build one. with zero knowledge of coding though lol

It's already happening. Have you opened Facebook anywhere in the last 3 years? Every post is insanely stupid and mass commented on by fake elderly people (with a portion being real)

It's all about the platforms you use. Use Google? Retail oriented and AI recaps. Use Brave? No retail focus, AI is you want it but not forced on you. Use Reddit for hobbies? Pretty ok with small subs. Use Reddit for large content like news and media? Pretty heavy towards sponsored and curated content. Use Youtube Home screen for main viewing? Curated and sponsored content mixed with some subscribed content. Use YouTube Subscribed section only? Only subscribed content and zero curated or sponsored stuff. You can subscribe for YouTube premium for ad free or go free and live with ads. You can approach all media, Internet, and social platforms the same way. Decide how you want to tailor your experiences and tune the system to how you want to consume. Some products may not be possible to tune to something you like. You might have to give up parts or all of some products. For example on Reddit, there are now large chunks of Reddit I avoid, old, good subs that are now wastelands of trash. I've unsubscribed to several subs, a first in my 14 years on this product. Reddit owners have willfully let big swaths of the platform turn to compete trash, and it's a shame. Many big subs are quite bad now, and all you can do is cut them away from your viewing. I repeat this with any product. I find no value in YouTube shorts, so I remove them entirely. Facebook is a sea of ad trash, and I remove all that and end up back only with just my actual feed like the old days. I can not reliably get decent news feed from Reddit anymore, so now I use Ground and started looking for independent news platforms that have no corporate parent and are subscription funded to start getting really good actual journalism again. I dislike how Google basically turned their main search page into their old Shopping page and are mainly now just a distributor seller overlay. So I'm now using Brave which is just a search engine and one that doesn't just use Google or Bing for their backend functionality. I shape what I want and cut what I don't.

At scale having just humans becomes effectively impossible Creating a private group and just vetting and occasionally removing members would be more efficient
